Kaffe Fassett Quilts in Sweden 20 Designs from Rowan for Patchwork Quilting Patchwork and Quilting Book Kaffe Fassett 8582079599996 Books
In this book Kaffe Fassett continues his prolific series of quilting design books for everyone (I say everyone, because you do not need to be a quilting expert to use his books--they are very accessible to beginners as well as expert quilters). The book features quilts designed using the fabric collections developed by Fassett, Brandon Mably and Phillip Jacobs, and shows not only designs from Kaffe Fassett but also people like Mary Mashuta and Roberta Horton, two of my favorite quilters. The quilts look more complicated than they really are because of the colorful, lush and opulent fabrics, but if you look at the diagrams and read the instructions you will see that they are very easy to make. The blocks and quilt layouts can be used for other fabrics; I put all of the designs I am working with into Electric Quilt (where that is appropriate) so that I can see what they will look like when I substitute other fabrics in my stash. I am particularly intrigued with the work the designers have done with stripes; both Kaffe Fassett and Mary Mashuta work extensively with them. I also like the scrappy type of quilts that they design. You can get a preview look at what the quilts will look like by going to the Glorious Color website and looking at the fabric packs that are sold for the quilts in the book (the images are not as good as those in the book, however). You do not need advanced piecing skills to create them. The quilts were photographed in a variety of beautiful settings in Sweden. In the introduction to the book there is a description of how Fassett works with some of the designers and sewers to lay out his quilts and there is some explanation of how he does his fabric collage. Highly recommended for quilters at all levels.Product details

Kaffe Fassett Quilts in Sweden 20 Designs from Rowan for Patchwork Quilting Patchwork and Quilting Book Kaffe Fassett 8582079599996 Books Reviews
Great instructions and patterns in this book. Terrific for quilters who can stand back and visualize the quilt as it might have come off of a loom since Kaffe's background is weaving. Stunning color combinations
I enjoy all of Kaffe Fassett's books. Besides, having wonderful projects the books themselves are lovely. I am getting ready to do his quilt on the cover and am having fun choosing my fabrics, of course, they are Kaffee Fassett's fabrics. I love KF use of color.
Kaffe Fassett and friends continue to amaze with color and designs!
If you've read other Kaffe Fassett books, this is more of the same. I didn't find it as useful or inspiring as I did his earlier books. It seems that these quilts are too conceptual, too formulaic. I don't find the warmth and spontaneity that I personally like in quilts.
I think this is one of my favorite of the Fassett quilt books. The photographs are absolutely beautiful, as they are in each book, but what sets this one apart for me are the quilts themselves. They seem to be less elaborate & less difficult than some in previous books. They aren't as intimidating for a beginner or intermediate quilter like myself. The fabrics, as usual are so gorgeous, you can't help but be inspired to make one of these beauties. I have been a big fan for a long time, and this book has me planning to make at least 4 of these designs in the near future.
After Kaffe Quilts Again, I found the setting for these older quilts a bit boring. And truthfully, didn't find the quilts as exciting. They are still quite good, but Kaffe Quilts Again is THE book for me. I've been quilting for over 40 years, and it takes a lot to inspire me. I bookmarked at least five quilts from "Kaffe Quilts Again", to make, and have already bought some of his marvelous fabric to use. That's what I call inspired!
The photography is exceptional!!! The quilts are very inspiring and I love the way that Kaffe Fassett uses color. The directions could have been better written, in my opinion, as many people that quilt do use a rotary cutter and not templates for squares and rectangles, so I would have liked the directions to have included cutting directions for this method as well~ I took off one star for this reason alone. Otherwise, I would rate this book as five stars.
